Well it arrived yesterday, nothing working so guess flat battery and today I plug it in, it has flashing blue led and is recognised as syntek usb device but will not open (I/O error). No pushing of any buttons as shown in the so-called manual does anything, the blue light stays flashing and no pics or videos.
I shall try again tomorrow and if nothing works, return it. I hope this isn't another piece of crap, it wasn't cheap.

Sounds like you don't have a memory card in it... It does that on full memory as well, just so you know.
When plugged in it will flash while charging and stay on when fully charged.
Also I worked all the modes out.
On/Off button does exactly that. HOLD for on then HOLD for off
Record button; PRESS to take a photo (light will blink) or HOLD to take a video (light will go OFF until end of video recording) PRESS to stop video and return to photo mode.
If you just turn it off while recording a video it WILL save.
I cant work out the SetTime.txt file though, anyone have any ideas?

Just worked out the set time thing, it's not "SetTime.txt".
Create a blank text file called "timerset.txt", enter the date as 20100317151059 (YearMonthDayHourMinuteSecond) and NOTHING else in the file.
Turn on camera to use it. When you plug the camera back in to your computer the file will have been removed if it worked.
